In this guide
IPTV sellers with European subscribers often ask how to take euro bank payments, and the answer depends on which kind of SEPA you mean: a transfer the customer sends, a direct debit you collect on a mandate, or a payout that moves your own revenue into a euro account. Few gateways do all three, and many card processors turn IPTV merchants away. We checked each provider's fees, its actual SEPA role, its merchant checks and its acceptable-use terms, and the three worth comparing are PayMeGate, NOWPayments and OxaPay.
Quick answer: Of the three, only PayMeGate puts SEPA bank transfers in the checkout itself, at 1% plus the independent provider's fee, with no monthly fee, setup cost or rolling reserve, and settlement in crypto such as USDC or USDT. NOWPayments works the other way round: subscribers pay in crypto and it can send EUR to your SEPA bank account through a verified partner. OxaPay is a cheap crypto-only gateway with no SEPA support.

What SEPA means for an IPTV payment system
SEPA (the Single Euro Payments Area) lets banks move euros across borders on the same terms as a domestic transfer. As of 2025 it covered 41 countries: the 27 EU member states, the four EFTA states, the United Kingdom and several smaller states. SEPA clearing runs on IBANs, and three schemes matter to an IPTV business that wants to accept payments in euros from multiple countries:
- SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT): the payer pushes money from their bank. Standard transfers settle in one business day.
- SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst): the same push payment in under ten seconds, around the clock. Under the EU Instant Payments Regulation adopted in March 2024, banks had to receive instant transfers from January 2025 and send them from October 2025.
- SEPA Direct Debit (SDD): the merchant pulls the payment on a valid mandate. The Core scheme is for consumers; the optional B2B scheme is for business payers.
For recurring billing, SEPA Direct Debit looks ideal: bank account details do not expire like credit cards, so there are fewer failed payments from expired cards and less involuntary churn, and SEPA transaction fees are usually lower than card payments. The catch for IPTV is the consumer refund right. A Core SDD payer can ask their bank for a refund within eight weeks of the debit date with no reason needed, and an unauthorised debit can be challenged for up to 13 months. Payment providers cannot contract out of that rule, so a direct debit carries chargeback-style risk for a high-risk IPTV merchant, and insufficient funds on the debit date means payment retries, just like a declined card.
Why IPTV merchants are classed as high risk
Payment processors classify IPTV as high risk for three reasons: frequent customer disputes, card-network rules against selling content without the rights to distribute it, and the large number of unlicensed services in the IPTV market. Standard processors often reject IPTV businesses or terminate accounts once transaction patterns look unusual, and high-risk merchant accounts are often quoted at 3% to 8% in the pages ranking for this search. That is why many IPTV merchants look for alternative payment methods such as bank transfers, wallets and crypto.
IPTV payment gateway or IPTV merchant account: which one handles SEPA?
An IPTV payment gateway and an IPTV merchant account do different jobs. The payment gateway is the checkout and routing layer: it collects payment details, passes payment information to a payment processor and tells your billing system the order is paid. A merchant account is the specialized payment processing account at an acquiring bank that receives card payments, and high-risk merchant accounts for IPTV usually need business verification, processing history and a reserve.
For SEPA, the difference matters:
- Merchant accounts are built to accept credit card payments. Some acquirers add SEPA Direct Debit, but IPTV is often a restricted business model.
- Payment gateways with alternative payment methods route SEPA, cards and wallets to independent payment providers, so one IPTV payment gateway can serve customer markets across multiple countries.
- Crypto payment gateways handle payments on-chain and sometimes pay out to SEPA, but subscribers must pay in crypto.
The right IPTV payment gateway for your IPTV business depends on your customer base: if most subscribers are in the euro area and prefer bank-based payments, SEPA at checkout matters more than a long list of coins.
How we chose these payment solutions
We read each provider's own pricing, FAQ, terms and acceptable-use pages today and scored these IPTV payment solutions on:
- What SEPA actually does: money in from subscribers, money out to you, or neither.
- Transparent pricing: published fees with no hidden monthly costs.
- Merchant verification: what signup asks for, and when business verification starts.
- Acceptable-use rules: whether the provider bans copyright-infringing content, and which countries it serves.
- Integration: payment links, an API and plugins for billing systems IPTV resellers already use.
We did not run live test payments, so there are no invented approval rates here.
1. PayMeGate: best for SEPA transfers at checkout
PayMeGate is a payment gateway for merchants that are underserved by traditional processors, including IPTV providers and resellers. Its pages list SEPA transfers and local bank transfers alongside Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Revolut and crypto, all processed by independent third-party providers, with settlement to a wallet you configure.
PayMeGate fees
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Platform fee | From 1% per transaction, configurable per merchant |
| Provider or network fee | Set by the independent provider or blockchain, varies by method |
| Monthly fee, setup fee, rolling reserve | None |
| Minimum order | $1 to $30, depending on the provider |
Key features
- SEPA and bank-based payments at checkout, plus cards, wallets and crypto, through independent providers. Availability depends on the provider, country, currency and amount.
- No merchant ID or business-document uploads at signup: signup asks for basic account and business information only.
- Crypto settlement: payouts in BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT, SOL and more, with instant USDC payouts and mass payouts of up to 19 splits listed on the pricing page.
- Integrations: a REST API, payment links for Telegram and WhatsApp sales, and plugins for WHMCS, WooCommerce, PrestaShop and OpenCart. A confirmed payment marks the order paid automatically.
Best for
IPTV businesses with European IPTV subscribers who want to offer SEPA alongside card payments, without opening a separate euro bank account or an IPTV merchant account with a long underwriting file.
Things to consider
PayMeGate's SEPA option is a transfer the subscriber sends, not a SEPA Direct Debit on a mandate, so renewals mean a new invoice or payment link each period rather than an automatic pull. Customer checks can apply: the FAQ says customers may need instant ID verification by phone camera, and independent providers may run their own eligibility, fraud, sanctions and compliance checks. PayMeGate is for lawful IPTV services that hold the rights to what they distribute; pirated content is prohibited under its acceptable-use policy.
2. NOWPayments: best for SEPA payouts of crypto revenue
NOWPayments is a crypto payment gateway with a subscriptions feature. It does not take SEPA payments from subscribers, but its fiat page describes converting crypto revenue and sending a EUR settlement to your SEPA bank account through its partner Switchere.
NOWPayments fees
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Service fee | 1% (pricing page) |
| Transaction fee | 0.5% (fiat page) |
| Fiat withdrawal fee | 1.5% to 2.3%, depending on transaction volume |
| Integration cost | $0 |
Key features
- 350+ cryptocurrencies accepted, with an average transaction time of about five minutes, according to the provider.
- Fiat withdrawals to SEPA: you link a verified Switchere account in the NOWPayments dashboard, request an amount, and the provider says it can reach your bank in a single business day.
- Subscriptions and mass payouts: recurring crypto invoices and zero-fee mass payouts are listed on the pricing page.
Best for
IPTV merchants outside the excluded countries who are happy to bill subscribers in crypto but want euros in a bank account at the end of the month.
Things to consider
Fiat withdrawals require a KYC/KYB procedure with Switchere, including proof of the source of company funds. NOWPayments' terms of service say the services are not provided to residents or citizens of the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, the United Arab Emirates or Russia, which rules it out for most merchants who want SEPA in the first place. The same terms prohibit content that infringes copyright unless you own the rights or have permission.
3. OxaPay: low-fee crypto alternative
OxaPay is a hosted crypto gateway with the lowest published fees of the three. It has no SEPA or fiat option on the pages we read, so it serves as a crypto fallback.
OxaPay fees
| Service | Fee |
|---|---|
| Lowest rate | From 0.4%, depending on your business |
| Payment link or invoice | 1.5% per transaction |
| White-label gateway | 2% per transaction |
| Static address | 2% per transaction |
Key features
- Auto-convert incoming crypto to stablecoins such as USDT to protect revenue from price swings.
- Merchant API, WooCommerce and WHMCS plugins, invoice generators and payment links.
Best for
IPTV merchants who want a low-fee crypto IPTV payment gateway next to another provider's SEPA or card checkout.
Things to consider
OxaPay's terms require that your business is not registered in the United States, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Crimea, Sudan, Syria, Bangladesh, Hong Kong or Bolivia, among others. They also prohibit content that infringes intellectual property and any unlawful business. There are no card payments, SEPA or bank-based payments.

IPTV payment processing fees, settlement and recurring revenue
IPTV payment processing costs depend on the route. Card payments for high-risk merchants typically cost several percent plus chargeback fees, while SEPA transaction fees are lower and there is no card scheme behind them. Settlement speed differs by route: SEPA Instant arrives in seconds, a standard SEPA transfer within one business day, and crypto settlement depends on network confirmation. If recurring revenue from recurring subscriptions is your priority, compare the full cost of each renewal in your subscription model: the platform fee, the provider fee, any currency conversion and the cost of failed payments.
How to integrate SEPA payments into your IPTV billing system
- Choose your billing model and the customer's billing schedule: monthly invoices, prepaid 3-, 6- or 12-month plans, or credits on a reseller panel.
- Connect the gateway: install the WHMCS or WooCommerce plugin, call the API from your own panel, or send payment links in Telegram or WhatsApp.
- Map payment methods by country: show SEPA to subscribers in the euro area and cards elsewhere, so the customer selects a method that works in their country.
- Automate activation: use the IPTV payment gateway's paid status to switch the line on, and send customer notifications before each renewal date. Without recurring billing capabilities, recurring payments become a payment link per period.
- Use a clear billing descriptor and plan names subscribers will recognise on their bank statement.
- Review transaction reporting weekly for refunds, unusual transaction volume, multiple accounts paying from one IBAN and repeat attempts; transaction monitoring and transaction information help you handle payments disputes quickly.
Chargeback management and failed payments
SEPA credit transfers cannot be pulled back by the payer the way a card payment can, but a Core direct debit can be refunded for eight weeks, and card payments carry the usual dispute rights. To keep disputes down:
- Put the renewal date, price and cancellation steps in the order email and on the invoice.
- Remind subscribers a few days before each billing date, and retry failed payments with a new payment link rather than repeated debit attempts.
- Watch transaction patterns: many orders from one IBAN or card in a short time, or mismatched customer locations, can signal suspicious transactions.
- Keep transaction history and payment information for each customer.
Risks and compliance
A payment provider does not make unlicensed content legal. If an IPTV service streams channels it has no rights to, it is breaking copyright law whichever payment method it uses, and card networks prohibit copyright-infringing sales. PayMeGate, NOWPayments and OxaPay all prohibit infringing content in their own terms. AML obligations stay with the merchant: you remain responsible for knowing your customers where the law requires it, screening against sanctions lists, reporting suspicious activity and keeping records. Payment gateways that handle card data must follow PCI DSS, and European payments fall under PSD2's strong customer authentication rules. Sanctions and tax obligations apply on every route, including crypto. Payment processors can terminate accounts that breach their terms, so read each acceptable-use policy before you build your payment infrastructure and payment system around it.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best payment gateway for IPTV?
For SEPA plus cards, PayMeGate is the IPTV payment gateway we recommend: it lists SEPA transfers, card payments and wallets through independent providers, from 1% plus the provider fee, with no monthly fee or reserve.
What is a SEPA Direct Debit payment?
A payment the merchant collects from the payer's euro bank account on a signed mandate. The Core scheme is for consumers and gives them an eight-week no-questions refund right.
What is the limit for SEPA payments?
Limits are set by banks and payment providers rather than by one fixed rule. SEPA Instant launched in 2017 with a €15,000 cap, and checkout providers often set their own per-order limits.
Can Americans use SEPA?
The United States is not in SEPA, but a US business can receive euros through a provider that holds a euro IBAN or collects SEPA payments for it.
Is SEPA equivalent to ACH?
Both move money bank to bank in batches. ACH works in US dollars in the United States, and SEPA works in euros across 41 countries.
Which countries accept SEPA payments?
As of 2025, the 27 EU states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and several smaller states, 41 in all.
How can I cancel a SEPA Direct Debit?
Cancel the mandate with the merchant and tell your bank. For Core debits, you can also ask your bank for a refund within eight weeks.
Do subscriptions count as direct debits?
Only when the merchant collects them on a mandate. Subscriptions paid by card or by transfer are not direct debits.
Which payment processors are best for high-risk merchants?
Look for payment processors that publish fees and acceptable-use rules for high-risk merchants. PayMeGate, NOWPayments and OxaPay all do, with different SEPA roles.
Which MCC codes are high risk?
Acquirers set their own lists, but pay TV and streaming (often MCC 4899), gambling (7995) and direct marketing codes are commonly treated as high risk.
How can I pay for IPTV?
Lawful IPTV services accept cards, wallets, bank transfers or crypto on their own website, not only through a messaging app.
Is IPTV legal in the USA?
The technology is legal. Streaming channels without the rights to them is not, and no payment method changes that.
Final verdict
If European subscribers want to pay by bank, PayMeGate is the simplest route of the three: SEPA transfers sit next to cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal, signup needs no ID uploads, there are no monthly fees or reserves, and revenue settles in crypto to your own wallet. NOWPayments only fits merchants who bill in crypto, want euros paid out by SEPA and live outside its excluded countries, while OxaPay works best as a low-cost crypto backup. PayMeGate's high-risk payment gateway page covers the licensing side.
